The Venue: Neustadt an der Weinstraße
The Conference will be held in the historical Convention Center of Neustadt an der Weinstraße close to the city center of Neustadt which offers many historical sights.
Built during the years 1871 to 1873, gutted by fire in 1980, the Saalbau (Fotos: Saalbau, Auditory, City) remains the focal point of Neustadt’s social life. Its multifunctional interior allows it to be a congress centre, theatre, concert hall, ball room and the scene of the annual coronation of the German Wine Queen.
Situated on the edge of the Palatinate Forest, a UNESCO protected region, looking over the fertile valley of the Rhine from an elevation of 100 – 200 metres above sea level, Neustadt is surrounded by a carpet of vines, over 5,000 hectares in total. Or put another way, what will eventually produce 20 million bottles of wine, a glass for every inhabitant of Germany or a bottle for each citizen of Neustadt – every day!
